Zalando lounge plans to build a 130,000 square metre logistics centre. In the medium term, the online mail order company will create around 500 jobs at this Polish site.

“Zalando Lounge has grown in recent years, and the new logistics location in Poland will allow us to increase our capacity and better serve our growing customer base”, said Martin Rost, Senior Vice President Lounge and Outlets.

Based in Olsztynek, near Olsztyn 200 kilometres north off Warsaw, is ideally suited for a number of reasons: Zalando’s two Polish logistics centres (near Szczecin and Łodż) are located near Olsztynek, allowing Zalando Lounge to exploit synergies between the three locations and to date, in addition, the workforce in the north-east of the country and the infrastructure with direct access to the S51 and S7 express the location, as well as close co-operation with the local authorities, especially in Olsztyn and Olsztynek was recorded in the press release.

“We are proud that we have the opportunity to invest with Zalando in Poland and to develop the logistics centre. We firmly believe in the future growth of our partner in the region. We are also very impressed with the professionalism and support of the local authorities”, says Hubert Michalak, Managing Director of Hillwood CEE (project developer of the site).

The Zalando Lounge logistics centre will complement Zalando’s existing European logistics network, which consists of eight logistics centres in five different markets. Two further locations in northern Italy and central Poland were announced at the end of 2017.

Zalando Lounge has approximately 15 million members in 12 European markets and offers exclusive access to 2,500 brands with discounts of up to 75%. It complements the Zalando Fashion Store with time-limited campaigns and is aimed at fashion customers who are looking for an excellent price-performance ratio. In Sept 2017 Zalando Lounge started in Poland.
